Window Protective System

It is a device that can be mounted inside a window frame for protection during hurricanes and tornadoes instead of hanging plywood. Read More...

PRODUCT INFORMATION

The basic idea is that you would have two adjustable metal rods (able to adjust the length of the bars to fit in a window frame). The two bars would be bolted together in the middle and adjustable at an angle. So, you could adjust both the length of the bars and the angles to make them fit into any size window frame (within reason). It would look like an X inside your window frame. The ends of the bars would have some dense padding that looked like an arrow so that the ends of each bar would fit snugly inside the corners of the window frame, and the padding would prevent damage to the home. There could also be a lip on the padding to ensure it stayed locked in place when outside force was applied (debris).

There should be a tension mechanism to hold the bars in place. You adjust the bars to fit approximately inside the window frame and then engage the tension mechanism to lock them in place tightly.

I am from the Gulf Coast, and every year, you see people struggling to hang plywood before a storm, which is very difficult (impossible for some people, like the elderly), dangerous (especially with multiple stories), and time-consuming.

This device would only need to be purchased once for each window, is lightweight, and could be mounted in approximately the same amount of time it takes to mount a tension bar for a shower curtain.

About the developer

Patrick Luckett from St. Louis, MO, developed a system to protect windows from storms. Patrick contacted the Mars Rising Network and had a provisional and design patent application filed and had the invention designed properly so that he may see success with this great idea and turn it into a real product. He is actively seeking a company that would have an interest in licensing the product for royalty. Working with Mars Rising Network, this essential new design concept was refined and prepared to be presented as a commercial product.
